Renowned for its excellent rock and surf fishing, Shelly Beach boasts the largest ski boat base between Durban and East London and plays host to numerous deep sea angling competitions throughout the year. Shelly Beach is perhaps better known for its well appointed busy shopping centre, National Sea Rescue Institute base and for being the home of a very successful, well patronised ski boat club rather than a beach resort.

Shelly Beach is one of the KZN South Coast’s top holiday destinations, Shelly Beach is also the launch pad for several different deepwater adventures, such as scuba diving on the famous Protea Banks, deep sea fishing, whale and dolphin watching, paddle-ski fishing, sea kayaking, etc.

For the nature lover there is the nearby Skyline Nature Reserve where you will be introduced to 76 indigenous coastal tree species, 300 odd other indigenous trees and some 400 exotic tree species.

With its large upmarket centres and malls, Shelly Beach is the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast’s regional shopping Mecca. There, in air-conditioned comfort, you can find and buy just about anything you may need. The area also features several fine restaurants, coffee shops and eateries.
